As part of my work with Indigenous Peoples, I learned about the story of the hummingbird as a symbol of healing. It carries a deep meaning of tenacity and endurance in the pursuit of our dreams. When everything in the forest burnt out, it was the hummingbird that carried droplets of water in service of the Earth. This is why I do what I do: My art—no matter how insignificant it may seem sometimes; I am doing my part in honouring the creative spirit that flows within me, simply making attempts at beauty.
