Tapestry of Leaves | Su France

'Tapestry of Leaves' is a limited edition giclée print taken from an eco, botanical contact print, with the fern leaf printed using my Gunning press. Eco printing, or botanical contact printing, is a contemporary adaptation of the ancient art of dyeing cloth with plant- based pigments. Leaves are arranged on paper, which is then tightly bound so that they and the paper are in close contact. When left in heated water, vinegar, tannin rich materials and rusty iron, the plants leave behind impressions of their shapes, textures, and tonal values.
